Donald A. Eisner, Ph.D. J.D., is a licensed attorney and
psychologist. He has a Ph.D. from West Virginia University and a
law degree from the University of West Los Angeles. He was
licensed to practice as an attorney in California in 1988. Dr.
Eisner has handled numerous psychotherapy malpractice cases,
including abuse of transference and implanting of false memories
as well as medication side effects. Donald Eisner has been
Director of the Geriatric Psychiatry Unit and has published in
the area of gerontology. He has represented dependent adults and
the elderly who have been neglected in nursing homes. Regarding
patient rights, Dr. Eisner has been on the staff of a
psychiatric hospital. In his legal career he has obtained a Writ
of Habeas Corpus for individuals who are involuntarily
hospitalized and represented individuals in court with respect
to a 72 hour hold.
His experience in general law relates to child custody
evaluation and visitation. He has taught developmental
psychology and psychological assessment.
Donald Eisner has been a Visiting Professor of Forensic
Psychology at Alliant International University, where he taught
courses on law and ethics in mental health as well as
psychopathology and psychological assessment. He has testified
in State and Federal Court on mental health issues. Dr. Eisner
has written an academic textbook entitled, “The Death of
Psychotherapy: From Freud to Alien Abductions”. He has published
twenty professional articles, which include forensic issues as
well topics on gerontology.
